March 5 (Lunar calendar: January 25 ), 2024 Tuesday | Dawnxisoul393art
March 5 is "Social Identity Disorder (D.I.D) Awareness Day". People with D.I.D. may feel that there are multiple personalities in their body. These personalities may have different names, ages, genders and appearances. D.I.D. is caused by traumatic events and/or abuse in childhood.
Abuse can include neglect and non-response to children. Other early and long-term trauma can also cause it. One example is medical trauma, which involves many kinds of pain and long medical procedures in childhood. When trauma begins before the age of five, it is most prominent.
When early childhood trauma occurs, it can prevent children from forming a cohesive or unified self-awareness in the first few years and lead to the occurrence of dissociative identity disorder. This is the so-called "core personality".
When long-term trauma causes different behavior states existing at birth to become more and more disconnected from each other, alternative identity is formed. People with D.I.D. may experience memory loss and out-of-body. Some people will also experience separation from feelings and emotions.
More research has helped the medical community better understand this disease. This day supports a coping mechanism to protect children. The purpose is to control traumatic memories and emotions in specific identities, so that they will not completely drown children.
Let the child think that the traumatic event happened to a specific personality rather than themselves, so that they can be freed. When celebrating this day, for those who are personally affected by this obstacle, this can be a way to empower them, help them share their stories, and learn better ways to love and accept themselves in a world that is not known or understood by others.
Although today's research has shown the existence of this disease, because it is rare in many cases, few people know about this disease. The goal of this day is to change this fact and make it more known and understood by more people around the world as an effective condition.
Maybe we can share this day on social media, let our family and friends and more people know what day it is, so as to spread the knowledge of this disease. This is a painting we painted with oil pastels for this day, to commemorate and support this special day in our way. Have a nice "Social Identity Disorder (D.I.D) Awareness Day". Cheers!
