In 2014, as the "National Coffee Day" was warmly welcomed in the United States, 74 member countries of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and 27 global coffee associations jointly designated October 1 as the "International Coffee Day".
International Coffee Day is to celebrate the prosperity and high quality of today's world coffee industry and the enthusiasm of hundreds of millions of people for coffee. This is an opportunity for all coffee lovers to share their favorite coffee, and it is also a thank you and feedback to thousands of coffee growers who have made the best efforts in coffee planting.
To celebrate this festival, ICO signed a memorandum of understanding to advocate the concept of "buying another cup of coffee for those who need it". The theme of the charity activity is "poverty eradication". Through online payment, coffee lovers around the world are encouraged to donate money for a cup of coffee online to help coffee farmers.
Many countries used to have their own "coffee festivals". The establishment of the "International Coffee Festival" jointly established by ICO and the World Coffee Association marks the unification of the World Coffee Festival.
